Introduction

About the project

In collaboration with Studio Brandenburg, we have developed the Rotterdam Learning Route Map for the Municipality of Rotterdam, Education Department. This web application enables students, parents, and teachers to intuitively explore and plan possible learning paths. Users can select their current education level and desired end goal, after which the application visualizes the possible study routes.

Goals of the website

The Rotterdam Learning Pathway Map is designed with the following goals:

  • Providing insight into study routes: Clearly displaying which educational and career opportunities are available based on the current level and ambitions of the student.
  • Support in career choices: Providing students and their mentors with a visual tool to discuss future educational and career paths.
  • Accessibility for diverse users: Offering a platform that is easy to use for both young people and adults, regardless of the device used.

Solution

To achieve these goals, we have implemented the following solutions:

  • Single Page Application: Development of an interactive application where users can compose their learning path step by step.
  • PDF export function: Ability to download the composed learning path as a PDF, allowing it to serve as a discussion topic with parents, teachers, or counselors.
  • Responsive design: The application is fully optimized for use on desktops, tablets, and smartphones, making it widely accessible.
  • CMS integration: The municipality of Rotterdam can easily adjust and keep the site content up to date via the Craft CMS.

The Rotterdam Learning Pathway Map offers a user-friendly and visually appealing way for students to explore their educational and career paths. The application facilitates constructive conversations about future plans and makes it easier to make informed decisions about educational directions.
